Guest Writing for Miss Charlotte Cake!

I have been writing this little ol’ blog for a while now, and one of my main reasons for starting Anchors & Swallows was to join two passions in my life – vintage and writing. When I was at school, I loved to write poems, stories and descriptive writing, I had a vivid imagination and a creative soul. As I have grown up and grown older, I certainly don’t have as much creativity as I did when I was younger, but I still crave to create and to write. And so my blog was born, with the intent to encourage others to pursue vintage style and to try new things.
Although I adore vintage style, I like to write about the more important things in life, for example, mental health. As with my veterinary nursing, I want to make a difference.
Sometimes I feel I am not good enough and it is so easy to compare ourselves to others, but one opportunity appeared to me one day – Miss Charlotte Cake was looking for a guest writer!

Miss Charlotte Cake is a vintage lifestyle blogger from New Zealand, with a beautiful website, who writes about recipes, fashion, beauty and life. I have followed her for a few years now; I love her writing and adore her style. Plus, she is gorgeous!
So when I saw on Facebook that she was wanting some guest writers… I wasn’t sure what to do. Was I good enough? Am I the kind of writer she would be looking for?
After going through these thoughts that were flying around my head, I decided – you only live once, all I could do was try. If it didn’t happen, it didn’t matter.

So, after a couple of emails back and forth, I am happy to tell you that I have a blog post up over at www.misscharlottecake.com!
I had decided to write about how I use my vintage style as self care and how it has helped me. As I say, mental health is a dear subject to me, something I have in common with Charlotte.
Please head on over to Charlotte’s blog to see what I had to say and thank you again to Charlotte for this opportunity!

Self Care - How my Vintage Style Helped Me

I hope that as well as taking something from my post over at Charlotte’s blog, I hope you will also take a chance, try and go for something that you want, even if you don’t think you’re good enough. You don’t know until you put yourself out there and try!
