I get so excited when my Vintage Boxed subscription arrives; vintage can be so diverse and varied, you never know what you will receive! But, as proven by my last couple of boxes, the level of good quality vintage is high.
As this is my third subscription box from the company, I also received a fourth item free! This box felt very personalised, because of one item in particular… I think they knew who they were sending it to!
The Hair Scarf
Firstly, I want to talk about this very pretty, pink scarf. Of course, I could have worn it around my neck, but I wanted to try something vintage and different! I followed a tutorial by Rachel Maksy on YouTube and really liked the outcome. The scarf itself has a dainty floral pattern and a pastel/dusky pink colour, so it can be matched to a few things in my wardrobe. It is a long, thin scarf of a decent size and so easily fashioned into headwear.
The scarf matched well to the cardigan I wore that day; the cardigan was also chosen for another item I had received…
The Versatile Cat Clips
Whoever is working over at Vintage Boxed must know that I am a crazy cat lady! These sweet cat clips are my favourite item from the box this month!
I’m not sure if the clips were intended to be cardigan clips, glass chain clips, or for something else all together. But they seem to be very versatile and so as seen in the photos above, I chose to wear it on my cardigan.
A fantastic accessory with a sturdy chain, it will be something I wear often, I am sure!
The Cropped Jacket
This cropped jacket was also a good find in the Vintage Boxed this month. It is well made and in good condition. It will be a staple for many formal vintage outfits! I love the peter pan style collar, which in my opinion gives a 1950’s kind of feel. It fits really well and has a flattering cut. I wouldn’t be able to tell you what decade this garment actually comes from – there are no tags or give away seems inside. If I had to guess, perhaps the early 1980’s?
A good piece either way!
The Techni-Colourful Dress
This dress certainly isn’t something I would pick out for myself. In fact, it’s not really my thing at all. But, I can appreciate a vintage garment regardless of my personal taste!
As soon as I put this dress on, I felt like I would have been well placed as a character in the show ‘Young Sheldon’ – based heavily in the 1980’s. From a quick google search, I found this dress was made in that decade! Despite its very bright and colourful design, I really like the cut and style of the dress. It has neat little buttons down the front, from the collar to the hem. I love an interesting neck line, so I really appreciate this high collar, as well as the volume in the sleeve!
My husband, while taking these photos, did say it looked like Joseph’s technicolour dreamcoat; not necessarily a bad thing!
I enjoyed dressing up in this very different style, but will I be drawn to wear it again? Probably not.
I have really enjoyed receiving these curated vintage items over the past few months, but I feel it is time to try something new for you all!
As you may have noticed, I like to try different things and so I have decided to review different subscription boxes every month. I will be saying farewell to the Vintage Boxed subscription for now, but I will definitely be purchasing again later in the year!
If you have seen a subscription box and would like me to review it, please comment below so I can look into it for another time – I would appreciate your recommendations!
